College Teams Excel in Kerala State Biodiversity Board Youth Ideation Challenge 2023

In an impressive showcase of innovation and sustainability, five outstanding teams from the Entrepreneurial Cell (E-Cell), of the College of Agriculture, Vellayani, have been selected to participate in the prestigious Kerala State Biodiversity Board Youth Ideation Challenge 2023.

The Agrobiodiversity team, led by Aashima Rahim and comprising Mohammed Nabin, P Sreeraj, Akshay Shaju, and Joel Michael, has caught attention with their proposal to use nanotechnology for extending the shelf life of fruits and vegetables. This groundbreaking idea has the potential to revolutionize food preservation techniques.

Ameera Vappukannu Ashraf heads the Oyster Shell Recycling team, which includes Noor Fidha P K V, Mohamed Shibin Shaji, Adersh Shaji, and Arya S. Raj. They have introduced a program aimed at recycling oyster shells to restore marine habitats, a critical step towards environmental conservation.

The Aquatic Invasive Species Management team, under the leadership of Aparna S. V. and team members Niranjan Sabu, T Thajudeen, Mridul MP, and Josekutty Sebastian, is focused on developing strategies for managing invasive species in aquatic ecosystems. Their work is pivotal in maintaining the ecological balance in our water bodies.

Another team making waves is the Edible Packaging team, led by Athira N S with members Jasna Sherin PT, Vishnu Sanilkumar, Antrin K J, and Arya S Nair. They are creating eco-friendly, edible packaging for agricultural produce, addressing the urgent need for sustainable packaging solutions.

Lastly, the Waste-to-Energy from Agriculture Waste team, guided by Susan Joshy and comprising Joseph George, Sreehari. K, M Letzamon Haokip, and Keerthana R F, has designed an innovative system to convert agricultural and food waste into clean energy. This initiative is a significant step towards tackling the dual challenges of waste management and renewable energy generation.

These teams not only represent our college's commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and sustainability but also highlight the diverse talents of our students.
